PA's subversion repository is a bit quiet lately. Are you commiting new development bits?

    Keep up the good work,

    Juanan

I've been having visions of PeopleAggregator. Maybe you guys have done this, but this was the vision.

Use cases. All kinds of ways of how people would use it. Going from Orkut to Tribe, uploading and downloading information from your Tribe site to your PDA, your telephone. Uplinking to Tribe, searching for a nearby restaurant, maybe Chinese, having PA GPS your location and then find all the Chinese restaurants, some suggested by friends, some with an event happening and that info downloading to your telephone, with the list and recommendations, maybe even sending out invitations to any friends GPS has located near your location.

      Dreaming out loud.
      Do we have use cases?

I can code anything defined by a use case.

Subversion rather than CVS? OK. I need to learn CVS first. But what about Eclipse as the development platform. I know Drupal is the avenue selected but is Drupal open ended?
I wonder if plug-ins exist for Drupal and Lazslo for Eclipse? Or is that an intelligent question?

great points and ???'s dude - thanks!

We're workign right now on getting PeepAgg inside of Drupal. Lots of otehr micro-content standards efforts and alliances forming too - BTW.

Allot o fteh stuff you're talking about would be layered on top of PeepAgg. It's just teh social networking foudnation - then folks can build whatever they want on top of it.

        BTW check out FOAFnet.org.

Is that going to mean PeepAgg inside Ecademy before too long?

Marc -- what about the need/desire for segmented identity? What are your thoughts on that? Not everyone wants to be totally open, and FOAF is pretty much totally open. I can buy it as an evolutionary step, but not the final target. What do you see as the next generation?

Ecademy has it's own social network - they choose NOT to do it liek everyone else.

But it's entirely possible that Ecademy would support teh peepAgg APIs and data structure extensions - so that (among otehr features) it coudl support PeepAgg's notion of "multiple personalities".

You see - that how we deal with 'segmented identity" (as you call it.) Each personality maps to a specific external system; liek MyYahoo, TypePad, .Mac or any otehr social network (like Tribe or Ecademy.)

We don't like to fight um - we join um.

Lots of unique PeepAgg accounts could also be supported so one teh dad, one the weekend paintball warrior, yet another the faux account that you use ot cheat on your wife with.

So YES to 'seghmented identity' - we call it "multiple personalities'. That's currently working on PeepAgg - or at leats it should be working.

        Answering my own question.
My research tells me that Drupal's chief advantage is that it is modular and it uses the classic three-tier client-server paradigm for creating a web site(presentation-logic-database).
Eclipse is a tool builder for building tools...
I think people are shying away from java for web site development is because of security leaks, but I could be wrong.
At least this is what I am reading in the literature. Maybe this is why PA avoided Redwood(used for Tribe) and Turbine, both java development environments.

Yes, Marc I will look into foaf.org. I have already downloaded a duffle-bag full of stuff all ready.

FOAF info can be found at rdfweb.org or foaf-project.org. We have an industry consortium called FOAFnet.org.

There rae security leaks everywhere - so don't blame java.

We choose php - just beciase there were bodies volunteering to work in that world. If we would have gotten java volunteers - guess what? Redwood is Bryan Lawler's - it's not open - yet.

And PeepAgg ain;t done yet - wanna help?

Yes, I want to help with the development of PeepAgg. In fact, I've already sent a message to esiglerATpeopleaggregator.com with some tips to enhance the documentation, without answer.

I've already fix some bugs both in the code and the documentation, but I can't send patches back to PA's Subversion repository, due to that I havent' an account, nor a clue how to get one.

Is there any hacking guide to PeopleAggregator? Which is the best way to help?

            Thanks,
